Water-water
Saturday, May 20th, 2006I wrote this article for StarStudio. Wala lang, gusto ko lang i-share:
Top 5 rain-drenched videos:
- Una (by Sponge Cola) – Probably Sponge Cola’s most popular video, Una was shot in the garage of manager Raymond Fabul. Real butterflies and goldfish were used. Lead singer Yael Yuzon said that he didn’t care if he looked messed up in the shoot: the dirtier, the better. Directed by Wincy Ong.
- Ulan (by Cueshe) – Ulan was the longest chart-rating video of Cueshe, and was shot in a basketball court. They had a miniscule budget, so they didn’t feature extras, and they just used a fire truck for the rain effects. The instruments they used here were later used for their fiery video, 24 Hours. Directed by Milos Curameng.
- Nasaan Ka? (by Pupil) – Pupil shot Nasaan Ka at the ruins of an old hotel at BF Homes, Parañaque. Here’s a weird story: It was cloudy on the day of the shoot, so they were thinking of re-scheduling it. Diane Ventura (Pupil’s manager, Ely’s wife, and songwriter of Nasaan Ka?) insisted that they push through, and that she will stop the rain with her powers until 8pm. Sure enough, at 8pm, it rained, and that’s where they got the best rain and lightning shots in a local video ever. Directed by Quark Henares.
- Heaven Knows (This Angel Has Flown) (by Orange and Lemons) – Heaven Knows was shot during a slight storm at the reclaimed area near Roxas Blvd. They hauled a real piano at the location just for the song’s intro, and half-buried several objects in the ground for some drama. Directed by Jeff Tan.
- Kung Wala Ka (by Hale) - This video was the first local music video in a long while that didn’t feature performance shots of the band. It was shot in a resort at Pansol, Laguna using 16mm film. They also used a fire truck for the rain effects. Directed by Topel Lee.
